The match was closely fought all the way through, with the scores at 7-7, 12-12 and 19-19 as the game progressed. OB's came out eventual winners, scoring in the last 5 minutes after a loose Cirencester pass and Miles kicking ahead and winning the race to the line easily.
Up to that point, the match had ebbed and flowed, both sides making some unforced handling errors which halted the momentum somewhat. Things picked up a bit in the second quarter, with Cirencesters big and strong forwards making a couple of scores while OB's pace out wide kept them in the game with a couple of well-worked tries.
It remained close all the way through, with Finlay at full back making at least 3 try-saving tackles against rampaging forwards who had broken 2 or 3 OB tackles - proof that good technique in the tackle works no matter how big the opponent is!
With the score at 19-19 and Cirencester breaking out from inside their own half, a wayward pass in to no-mans-land and a perfect fly-hack lead to the final OB's try and we held out for the last 5 minutes to come away with a victory that, quite frankly, could have gone either way.
