OBRFC are proud to share with you the latest developments in our Girls rugby for the upcoming season

The Old Bristolians Girls' section will be joining with 4 other clubs to form new match playing squads at U12s, U14s, U16s & U18s age groups.

The combined squads will be known as the ‘Bristol Pumas’ and each girl will have their own specially designed playing shirt. We are very grateful to Kellaway Building Supplies for their generosity in sponsoring the shirts.

When playing matches, OBs Girls will wear club shorts and socks (to maintain club identity) along with their new shirts.

The other clubs we are working alongside are Chipping Sodbury RFC Frampton RFC, Gordano RFC, and Thornbury RFC. There is a full schedule of fixtures booked against other local Girls teams for Sunday afternoons which we will be adding to our section page.

In line with our FASTER values, the primary emphasis remains on health, safety, wellbeing and fun first, with great rugby being played. The larger squads and regular matches give great opportunities to develop and enhance the girls' rugby skills.

Last season one of our girls was selected to play for the newly created English Rugby Developing Player Programme ERDPP at Somerset County RFU. We have put forward another five girls for selection recently. This is the first step into the Bears Centre of Excellence and the Academy!

OBs Girls are continually recruiting and this is a very exciting time for them. If you know anyone that would like to join the Girls section, or if you would like to help / volunteer a couple of hours of your time supporting them whether in a coach or admin/social capacity, please speak to their Lead Coach, Chris Roys.

Chris Roys was our volunteer of the year last season for his brilliant work in developing and supporting our Girls section. His hard work is certainly paying off.
