The 1st XV were put away by a strong Avonmouth side. Some heroic D in the first half but also a lot of scrabble defence throughout. 3 tries were leaked in the closing minutes, which made the 50-5 score line look even worse. BOP went to the Gloucester dog, Greener, for being a general nugget.
Avonmouth 50 - 5 OBs
After the last home win, the Vets’ expectations were high, especially with a (proposed) team sheet of 20. Things started to go awry when the ref announced he was expecting a 1.30 kick-off, and this being Vets, not everyone was there half an hour before. Despite starting with 12, against an oppo with a sizeable bench (luckily both Nailsea AND Backwell kindly agreed to 13-a-side rugby) the Vets held out to achieve a great win. BOP went to Kirk, but Stinger also earned plaudits for his bow tie. All in all a very OBs day.
