This was always going to be a tough match, with Hornets (last years cup winners?) setting the pace in the league games this season.
However, despite being what felt like 2 stone per man lighter in the forwards, our dynamic style saw 2 tries early in the first half and another 2 early in the second half set the base. Hornets were forced to work very hard for their 2 tries, though they dominated possession for much of the match (after a very strong first 15 mins from the Colts) with a clear superiority in the line-out. That being said, our scrum was steady and at times dominant despite the weight disadvantage - the benefit of good front 5 technique and body positions.
We had a large squad out, so there was some disruption caused by substitutions but everyone got their 'fair share' of time on the pitch, and the togetherness shone through with enthusiastic support from the those on the bench.
