Top of the table Old Bristolians overcame a determined Frampton Cotterell side 27 – 22 on a glorious day for rugby.

OBs scored four tries to secure a bonus point win against eighth placed Frampton Cotterell.

With Captain Mike Barton away, the OBs pack came up against a solid Frampton scrum that fought hard for the full 80 minutes.

OBs started brightly, playing with the wind to secure procession in the Frampton half. An early injury to Dan Evans led to the introduction of Steve Forster, who soon ran in the first of his two tries.

A training ground move from the line out saw the ball move swiftly across the pitch to give Steve Forster the opportunity to score in the corner. Unfortunately, No. 8 Gareth Graham collided with the referee in the process and came off second best.

From the restart, second row Craig Jones received the ball from hooker James Pritchard and went on a mesmerising run up field. A quick recycle and good hands from centres Nick Reed and Tom Westray gave Steve Forster the chance to race in for his second try. Fly half Jack Price, back from two weeks away, kicked the conversion.

Frampton were generally playing very well, with their pack keeping the ball through several mauls, and with OBs conceding penalties, this allowed Frampton to work themselves up field.

A poor clearance kick and some good running by the Frampton winger led to their first try and they also kicked a penalty.

The second half saw OBs start strongly, with quick ball and good hands, Garth Hannaford and Nick Reed set replacement hooker Jon Whiteman up for a try.

Frampton regained some control, and used the maul and wind well to work themselves into the OBs half to score a close range try.

From a free kick in the middle of the pitch, stand in captain Jack Price ran around several would be tacklers before passing inside to set up flanker Matt Douglas for a try. Jack Price added the conversion.

A late surge by Frampton saw them score a try to secure a losing bonus point.

After a week off from the excellent 41-6 win against Drybrook, OBs had a wake up from Frampton who proved to be a very combative side.

OBs welcome Bishopston to Failand this Saturday.
