OBs overcame Bishopston in a close game away from home on Saturday to climb up to second in the table. There were again a number of results in Gloucester Premier that went against the form guide, meaning the four points for the win puts OBs on 22 points, four behind top of table Bristol Saracens.
OBs started well with wing Steve Forster scoring a good try after several phases of quick ball.
Prop Nick Cussen was next to benefit from quick ball scoring a try after multiple phases with the ball going through the hands of the majority of the team.
Joel Keen kicked a penalty, and with Bishopston also kicking a penalty, OBs led 13 – 3 at the break.
Bishopston played well in the second half, scoring two tries. But a second Joel Keen penalty secured the points of OBs.
With several players out due to injuries and with some players playing out of position, the win was a good result against a committed Bishopston side who played better than their league position suggest.
OBs play away at Broad Plain this week in the Bristol Combination Vase, returning to the league the following week in a top of the table clash against Bristol Saracens.
