1st v start with a win

Old Bs started the season well with a reasonably comfortable bonus point win 37:29 over an improved and physical Cheltenham outfit.
The game saw the league debut of new Director of Rugby Simon Hunt at fullback, but it was flyhalf Rory Davis who was the star of the day with a 27 point haul.
The opening exchanges were very physical with the large Cheltenham pack getting the upper hand setting up two tries from driving lineouts. Davis kicked two long range penalties in response.

As the half went on the OBs backs made a number of clean breaks but the final scoring pass wouldn’t stick. Finally just before half time Davis squeezed over in the corner to take the score to 11:12.
The second half started with a bang with Cheltenham kicking loosely only for Hunt, the former England 7’s player, to jink his way through everyone from 60 metres to score under the posts. Davis converted. From the KO Wing Barney Nelson broke from halfway only to be held up over the line. From the resulting scrum Davis ghosted through a gap to touch down, he then added the extras. With OBs dominating field position Cheltenham went down to 14 after a sin bin. Davis took advantage of the extra man looping around his centres to score in the corner.
Then with 15 minutes to go and leading by 20 OBs relaxed and Cheltenham came firing back to score two tries in quick succession. OBs lost new recruit Pete Fison to the bin for a deliberate knock on and Cheltenham pushed hard only for Hunt to intercept inside his own 22 and run in unopposed. Davis converting.

Cheltenham grabbed one more try with the final play of the game but OBs ran out winners 37:29
